ナイロンラインはベタツキ難く巻き癖がつき難く、柔らかい、等の特徴があるのでみち糸に向いています。みち糸とはリールに巻くラインのことです。
他方、ハリスは硬く消耗や擦れに強いのが特徴。ハリスとは針に結ぶラインで仕掛等々に用いられ、主に水中で使われるます。
